Founded by renowned pediatrician Dr. Jane Aronson, the WWO addresses the special physical and psychological needs of orphans living in institutions in different areas of the world. As a doctor and international adoption specialist, Dr. Aronson is acutely aware of the challenges facing orphans, particularly in third-world countries. Some challenges identified within orphanages include how to treat HIV, the emotional strain of living in institutions, lack of medically trained staff, and many others. One program, The Orphan Rangers, sends medical students to live and work in orphanages in territories covered by the WWO. As more people become aware of the efforts of Dr. Aronson and all those affiliated with the WWO, more work can be done to take care of the world's children.
